Billie Hull was born in 1963 in Bridgeport, CT. Photographer and is currently working towards a BFA in Photography at the University of Colorado Denver. Her images along with her academic achievements gained the attention of the Gillman Scholarship Program which led her to study abroad at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan, Ireland.

Currently a member of the South Westminster Art Group, (SWAG), Billie has been involved in bringing her art to the streets and buildings around the Historic Westminster Arts District. Her work has been featured on the front pages of the Westminster Window newspapers and gained a local following of collectors that purchase some of her work through the Rodeo Market Art Center and Gallery.

I use photography as a means of self-expression – as a means to document my life, to better understand my reality, and to express my interpretation of the world around me. My recent collection of work, Grand’s Central, comes from a desire to preserve important moments in my life as well as draw attention to a growing social issue worldwide.

Largely overlooked these days, is the growing number of mid-life and older grandparents who are raising their children’s children. Most commonly, grandparents become the principal guardians of distressed families where the middle-generation is incapable of raising their children. As a primary care giver to my ten-year-old grandson, Aidan, I’ve learned raising a grandchild is not as uncommon as some may think.

Using a digital camera and printing on archival paper with archival inks, my images are printed in smaller, more intimate sizes to draw the viewer more closely to the subject.
