statement

I use photography as a means of self-expression – as a means to document my life, to better understand my reality, and to express my interpretation of the world around me. My recent collection of work, Grand’s Central, comes from a desire to preserve important moments in my life as well as draw attention to a growing social issue worldwide.

Largely overlooked these days, is the growing number of mid-life and older grandparents who are raising their children’s children. Most commonly, grandparents become the principal guardians of distressed families where the middle-generation is incapable of raising their children. As a primary care giver to my ten-year-old grandson, Aidan, I’ve learned raising a grandchild is not as uncommon as some may think.

Using a digital camera and printing on archival paper with archival inks, my images are printed in smaller, more intimate sizes to draw the viewer more closely to the subject.
